Devon's House

   Home to one of Jamaica's first black millionaires George Stiebel. This home is located at the corner of Trafalgar Road and Hope Road. Devon House was declared a national monument in 1990 by Jamaica National Heritage Trust.

Today this house is known for the Famous Ice Cream they produce. People all around the world come to Jamaica to taste the famous ice cream. It is located in various parishes on the island.

Rose Hall Great House in Jamaica

In the beautiful parish of St James stands a famous landmark which is known to many, the Rose Hall Great House.

Rose Hall Great House was built in the 1700's by George Ash, he named the house after his wife Rosa. George Ash died in 1752 without getting the chance to live in his newly furnished house with his lovely wife. Rosa married thrice after his passing. Her last marriage was to John Palmer in 1765, the then custos of St. James.

Rose Hall Great House is one of the most grandeur spots known to Jamaica. this great house can be seen on the hills viewed from the Rose hall main road.
According to local legends, the Great House is to this day haunted by the spirit of  Annie Palmer, known as the "White Witch or Rose Hall," the wife of John Rose Palmer, the grandnephew of John Palmer, who be the sole owner of the estate.

 Surrounded by a 6600-acre sugar plantation which once had more than 2000 slaves, the Rose Hall Great House is built of cut-stone on the first two levels and stucco on the third and uppermost.

Its beauty and feature is not only what captures the attention of tourist but the legends of Annie Palmer, her tale of being a wicked wife, leads to the interest of others seeking answers for her doings and also the history of the building of this house.
